KAJI'S WEEKEND: Episode 1: WOW! KAJI HAS ALOT OF PROJECTS!
With this being the first true weekend out of my loving daughter's softball, and the first weekend with my love out of school, I decided to make some decent plans for this weekend. Decent plans for you may be going out on a date, partying with friends, or getting drunk and playing WoW. For me? Well..

FFXI: The End of Perfect Ataraxia
I joined my second Dynamis group back in April of '07, and was very well accepted as a Taru BLM. Back in those times, the group usually ran with around 20-30 players, and it was hard getting to know everyone. In the last few years we've become a smaller group lucky to have 12 players that where not a mule or second characters. We've had some amazingly fun runs, some very frustrating and difficult runs, and even some laid back runs. There would be nights where nothing dropped and it felt like a pointless run, then there would be nights that we'd leave an area feeling like thieves. Often we'd play together outside of Dynamis, so it was like having a small family. It was alot of fun, and I'd like to personally thank the leaders, long term members, and even short term members.
This post goes out to all the current and previous members of the Perfect Ataraxia Linkshell, of the FFXI
Quetzalcoatl server.
Thank you. Just because we're not part of a Linkshell anymore, you're all still my friends. Never hesitate to call me.

PSN Revival: Time to Bribe, erm, Thank Gamers.
It only does something. |
Choose from two (2) PS3 games:
Dead Nation (Think SmashTV with Zombies)
inFAMOUS (If you don't own it, you better own it after this.)
LittleBigPlanet (Great fun, but I think most people own it.)
Super Stardust HD (Looks like Geometry Wars.)
Wipeout HD + Fury (Remake of an older game, kinda reminds me of Tron racing)
inFAMOUS (If you don't own it, you better own it after this.)
LittleBigPlanet (Great fun, but I think most people own it.)
Super Stardust HD (Looks like Geometry Wars.)
Wipeout HD + Fury (Remake of an older game, kinda reminds me of Tron racing)
Obviously the best deal here is inFAMOUS & LittleBIGPlanet. I already own them both, so I'll probably get Dead Nation & Wipeout on my girlfriend's Ps3 & get WipeOut & Stardust on my Ps3. ^^
Then, pick two (2) PSP games:
LittleBigPlanet (LBP on the go!)
ModNation Racers (Mario-Kart esque gameplay.)
Pursuit Force (Older PSP game, looks interesting. Got decent reviews.)
Killzone Liberation (FPS4PSP)
ModNation Racers (Mario-Kart esque gameplay.)
Pursuit Force (Older PSP game, looks interesting. Got decent reviews.)
Killzone Liberation (FPS4PSP)
Unsure my decisions on this one. Definitely on LBP, so my daughter can play it on the go. I'll probably post my decision later on. It'll be last second, no doubt.
The downside to this is that the PSN Store isn't up yet, but should be shortly. Remember kids: We only have 30 days after the store is online to download our freebies. There are alot of great games in here, so don't be shy.
FFXI: A Quick Guide to Anyone Returning to FFXI
A good friend of mine texted me today mentioning that she is returning to FFXI. My first words to her was "The game has changed alot." So, this inspired me to write the following about what has recently changed in the last few years in FFXI, sense the the mid 08s'. This article is for people who left remotely in between ToAH & WotG:
JOBS
Corsair, Blue Mage, Puppetmaster, Scholor, and Dancer have all been introduced to the game. Corsair has become key for helping with sleeps (with elemental shots) and assisting the PT in small buffs. Blue Mage has become the ultimate solo machine, able to face many types of mobs. Puppermaster, once a job that was often made fun of, can now out-nuke most Black Mages with the BLM Puppet. (Way to make me feel useful, Ana!)
Once upon a time, PLDs were always needed but a good PLD was rare. Now they are the lolJob, with people often placing them under the "Forever Alone" category. With new combinations of subjobs and level caps being raised, alot of jobs have become more self sufficient. BLM/RDM can refresh and convert, WHM/SCH can Hastaga and spam abilities that lower enmity towards them.
New abilities came as well with these new levels; WHMs can sleep mobs, BLMs can take damage to HP and swap it with MP, THF can take the blame for other people's hatred. Not to forget that SMNs can now summon Odin & Alexander for a few moments & NINs have gotten all the spells they've ever needed including Ninjetsu items that can be use universally with certain spells.
GEAR
With the introductions of Abyssea, the 3rd tier of JSE was introduced. Easy to obtain, but only good once you've upgraded them. Easier to obtain, but god-awful to look at Auror gear was made available along with Pearl & Teal gear, rounding out armor that is decent & decently obtainable.
Your old gear can easily and sadly be replaced with superior gear once you reach the level, but some of your really rare pieces can now be upgraded via Synergy, the new crafting job that is like no other.
A good weapon can be easily obtained but if you're one that seeks more, you now have multiple choices including building a weapon from ground up via Trails of the Magian, where you can make a weapon that attacks more then once per turn or has certain elemental attributes. (Ex. Thunder = Dex & Acc augments & Ice = Elemental Magic + INT upgrades.) Mythic & Empy Weapons have been introduced, with the latter a little easier to obtain and usually superior to Mythic & Relics.
EXP
EXP has never been easier. FFXI really went into easy mode. With increased EXP for EP-EM mobs & The introduction to Fields of Valor, a system where you take out a certain set of mobs in the area & then rewarded with more exp & gil for completing the grocery list of death. Then there is Abyssea..
People are known to "Key Whore" in Abyssea, where you go in at the minimum level of 30, and gain massive EXP from 17 other people killing mobswhile you pop open chests that give time extensions, exp, and even rare items. Abyssea is the best place to EXP, (went from BLM 80 to 85 and also got 3 levels on SMN in one 6 hour group.) but sometimes makes it hard to skillup, bringing back skillup pts of old times.
Normal 6-man pts are rare, mostly replaced with smaller groups completing Fields of Valor.
ENDGAME
Numerous endgame battlefields exist, each with it's own storyline & gear. alot of it was over-shadowed by the abyssea gear. You can still find groups low-manning end-game stuff such as Dynamis & Limbus. These once had 18+ per fun, now can be easily beaten with a well-trained group of 8. Dynamis went under a huge reconstruction, making it more of an extra EXP zone with rare drops, even though the CoP Dynamis zones remain the same. Sky & Sea has some benefits, but finding a group may be hard unless you have friends.
ECONOMY
This one is short & sweet:
Things cost less, buy money has become scarcer. You can make a decent coin if you try, but no playing means no money.
FRIENDS
Friends as always good thing, but some people prefure to dual or even triple box instead of dealing with others. Sad, but successful.
EVERYTHING ELSE
Like I said before:
The Game Has Changed.
Some can say for the better, alot say for the worse. The game doesn't have to many challenges anymore, and has become newbie-friendly. Personally, the game changed at the right times for me. I went though the hard times of leveling BLM and SMN, beating the first two expansions, and completing a set of relic gear before changes came along and made it easier. I welcomed the changes so leveling my second & third jobs became easier & beating the bitch that is CoP once more with my better-half, Yopo.

Review: Tron Legacy
<3 |
"The son of a virtual world designer goes looking for his father and ends up inside the digital world that his father designed. He meets his father's creation turned bad and a unique ally who was born inside the digital domain of The Grid." ~IMDB Summery~
Review:
A note real quickly: I was never a huge fan of the original Tron. It was a fun movie, but it wasn't very provoking. I may catch some fanboy heat for this, but I want to be honest about this. Again, it was a fun movie. Legacy, on other hand, blew the original out of the water for me.
The storyline was probably the weakest point of the movie, and that's not a terrible thing. A simple story with a couple (predictable at moments) twists and some great nostalgia factor. The good thing is that Legacy doesn't fully depend on the original movie for a storyline. Most things are explained pretty well, with the exception of Dillinger Jr's bit part (son of the antagonist from the first movie), and who Tron is. Olivia Wilde's character Quorra was a good change from female leads. The attraction from her character and Sam was well written, pulling away from the "The main girl and the main guy gotta kiss" stereotype. I appreciated the little bit of sexual frustration that was never played upon. Almost everything the character say and do is golden. I will be quoting this movie for along time. Story is definitely a 4/5. I can't say there is anything I could add or take away from the storyline, it just felt a little lacking. Perhaps other points of the movie over-shadowed the story, and that's why I feel the way I do about it.
Special effects where insane. It made me want to put long LED lights throughout my clothing. The de-aging of Jeff Bridges was interesting, but at a few moments didn't seem as real as I'd of hoped Disney could do.
All battle scenes, light-cycle battles, and even the programs falling into broken pieces after being "deleted" was done really well. The effects sometimes had a "Dark Knight" feel to them, and that definitely not a bad thing. 4.5/5
Music made the movie. Daft Punk's score for the movie definitely made it for me. Anytime I can listen to a soundtrack that makes me relive scenes from the movie, I fall completely in love with it. I've already driven home from work listening to "Flynn Lives" with quite possibly the nerdiest look on my face. Often, the music almost feels like the actors are moving and talking with the music playing in their heads. The way the music flows with each character makes you think they had the music playing for the actors in each scene. 6/5 (Yes, I went over the limit. You got a problem with that? You wanna fight about it?)
Yeah.. I like Oliva Wilde. Can't you tell? |
Wrap Up:
The original Tron wasn't for everyone. Legacy feels like like you can sit almost anyone in front of it and they'll enjoy it. I plan on purchasing the Bluray+DVD version for myself in the near future. Your family and friends will enjoy this movie, as long as they can comprehend the idea of a digital world.

Saturday Night Projects!
Finally finished up the driver installation on my computer and starting the installation of my favorite drug and it's less loved younger brother (FFXI and XIV respectively). All that's left for that is do download updates...
So, what to do while my computer is doing it's thing? Work on my next model kit sounds good. (Yes, I know I need to post some pics of my last project, but I need a better camera then the one that's on my phone to show that off.)
Well, installs are all done and FFXI is taking it's sweet-ass time installing, so I'm off to bed. Hopefully I'll get my copies of Photoshop CES3 and Microsoft Office XP soon so I can finish my computer and continue work on the main hunters-guild.org site. I'll post more shots of the kit once I've started work on the head.
This one will be alot shorted then the next one. >.>; FFXI players know what updates are like. |

Painted Heero and put him in his little chair. Little guy never looked so happy. |
Inner-Chest completed with a little frustration. |
Front attached. Was tempted to use green-eye pain instead of the sticker, but decided against that. |

Epic News: Sega Saturn Classic Guardian Heroes being remade for X360 Arcade!
A few weeks back I think I brought up a game called Guardian Heroes for the Sega Saturn. Not only was this a fun 4 player beat-'em up with rpg elements dipped into anime juice, it was a large part of what the anime club (AnimeSentai props #2) played during the early 00's. Multiple endings, awesome super moves, and a VS mode that supported up to 12 players really made this game a kick at the parties.
Kotaku.com reports that this treasured jewel in the Sega Saturn crown will be released for the Xbox360 Arcade. Not just a port of the Saturn version, but will also feature updated HD graphics, online co-op and online VS mode that can support up to 12 players. Expected for a Fall 2011 release date. Original article: http://kotaku.com/#!5798896/sega-saturn-classic-guardian-heroes-coming-to-xbox-live-arcade
Once again, Xbox has come out and saved me from buying a game I've needed sense it was thrifted from my house back in 2005. Thanks to Kotaku for reporting.
Let me apologize to all my friends who had to deal with me playing as the Dragon God in VS mode. ^^ |
Take that people who are selling this game for $100 on Amazon! |

Hunters Guild Updates
Happy Happy |
Main Page: Additions of new Selections; Reopening older pages with the new format. Also need to work on getting the main page to look better in older versions of Internet explorer.
KO Beast: Finish the music sections. Work on the video game section. Does anyone have a good Turbo Duo/PC Engine emulator they know of? I need a new HuCard to get my Turbo CD to play right. This would be helpful for the game review/synops.
Utena: Considering a new layout, but it's on the back burner. Update information about the DVD releases and a few other things.
Evangelion: Rebuild from the ground up. Will feature new articles and selections not found in other sites like Evawiki or other popular resources. What is the point of having the same information as everyone else, right?
Definite return of "Rejected Angels."
I never finished recoloring this to be Kaji & Holocaust. Both two proud warriors from PSO Dreamcast. |
FFXI: Same as above. This game is to blame for me not updating. That's the story and I'm sticking to it.
Parody Comics: Time to add some more, right?
Wallpapers: Long need of an overhaul. Definitely planned.
Others: History of Hunters Guild opening, Model Kit/Figure collection pictures and info, and a reopening of my convention page. A few other surprises are in the works as well.
...No. No I am not. |
